“Relationships”
"Relationships"; a necessary evil programmed into human nature through evolution to keep the rat race going: Herd & family —> sense of belonging —> safety & comfort —> less miserable (temporarily).

Relationships, as we humans like to call this bond, be it platonic, or non-platonic, are so fickle. They’re so delicate; as if held together by a measly piece of string. Yet, the power they hold over you cannot be emphasized upon enough. I’ve been told that humans are “social creatures”—we’d fall apart if not for our relationships—friends, family, significant other—we’d have no reason to live, and we’d become depressed. Yes, infact, that’s totally correct, I’ve had my fair share of emotional and mental breakdowns over the course of my miserable seventeen years on this dumpster fire we call “earth”. What a weird name though. “Earth”? What does it mean? I have no clue.
Isn’t it so cruel though that evolution has programmed us in a way where we are dependent on others in order to carry-out the most basic of human operations—”living”. Herds & families —> sense of belonging —> safety & comfort —> less miserable.
I for one, just cannot, or rather, choose not to be stuck in this rooster coup of sorts. I choose not to have any platonic relationships with anyone, be if “friends”, “family”, or whatnot. It just doesn’t appeal to me for some reason. I’d prefer to be my own source of comfort instead of relying on someone else to be there for me.
Funnily enough, this actually ties into another one of my beliefs. I actually strongly believe that expectations are the root of all evil. Having expectations of/from people; that is where things go terribly, terribly wrong.
Yes, you are correct. One cannot imagine how miserable an existence would be without any solace by one’s loved ones, but, what I feel is, that if we get accustomed to this level of comfort, we’ll be dependent. Dependent, and in a way, weak, perhaps?
